REBELLION FESTIVAL - 8-11 AUG 2013

I, Ludicrous will be making an appearance in Blackpool in August at the Rebellion Festival. This is a four day festival and I, Ludicrous will be taking to the stage on Sunday 11th, along with Sham 69, Lene Lovich, The Nightingales, and many, many more. One day tickets are a something of a bargain at £55, with a four-day pass even better value at £130.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF I, LUDICROUS

If you have not yet sat down to watch Paul Ryall's marvelous feature length documentary Ridiculous: A Brief History of I, Ludicrous we do urge you to do so.

As Paul himself says, "The rags to rags tale of one of the finest bands to emerge from Thatcher's Britain. Theirs is a story of imploding record companies, electric drums, a Woolworth's guitar and a body of work filled with wit, irony and a sense of the ridiculous. Includes interviews, rare live footage, promotional films and over 30 songs including the hits, "Preposterous Tales", "We're the Support Band" and "Approaching 40."

LIVE DATE IN MARCH 2013

The I, Ludicrous website has been a little bit quiet of late (understatement). But now it is 2013 and with the new year some updates to the site.

Let's start by letting you know about our forthcoming live date - you can catch I, Ludicrous live at the Hope & Anchor in London's Islington district on Saturday 9th March. We hope to see you there!

There were 4 gigs in 2012 (four more than in 2011) and the Gig Guide section of the website has been updated with some photos, posters, etc. from these shows.

Those looking for new I, Ludicrous songs should turn to the compilation album This Is Our Time - Songs To Celebrate The AFC Wimbledon Story, on which you'll find the track From the Lane to the Meadow. You will likely also hear some new unreleased material at the March gig (you really should try to come along!!).

TWO LIVE SHOWS AND A NEW SINGLE!

I, Ludicrous will be appearing LIVE at the Lectern, Brighton with The Nightingales on Friday 29th October. If you can't make that (or even if you can!) 20th November at Inn on the Green, Portobello Green, London is graced with the band's presence. Hope to see you at at least one of these dates.

The new I, Ludicrous single "Clerking Til I Die" was officially released in September 2010 as a download, available from all good download sites.

LIVE IN WINCHESTER & NEW SINGLE

I, Ludicrous have announced that they will be playing a live date in Winchester in November. You can catch them at The Railway on 13th November. The band are on stage at 11pm and tickets are available on the door.

Also, I, Ludicrous' new single - a new version of "We're the Support Band" is out and available as a download from all the top download outlets.

DANDELION RADIO SESSION
I, Ludicrous have just recorded a session for Dandelion Radio, featuring four tracks to be broadcast on October 1st. They are "We are the Support Band", "Chinese Business Man", "Clerking 'til I die" and "Kick down the Stumps" (the last to celebrate England's mixed summer of cricket).

LIVE IN LONDON IN FEBRUARY

The previously advertised Lewes gig on 28 Feb has been shelved. Change your diary entry for that evening to say "take the love of my life out for a nice meal".

Hot on the heels of the Shoreham & Brixton gigs I, LUDICROUS play at THE WATERSHED, 267,The Broadway,Wimbledon,London,SW19 1SD, on Friday 12th December. Doors 8.pm. Onstage 10.pm. £5. The Watershed is 5 minutes walk from Wimbledon station.


NEW GIGS IN SHOREHAM & BRIXTON

I, Ludicrous are back in action 28 September at the Duke of Wellington Shoreham-on-Sea (on around 16.00). this is an all-dayer arranged by Atilla the Stockbroker and its free to get in.

'CY TWOMBLY' USED ON BBC'S CULTURE SHOW

The BBC's Culture Show used 'Cy Twombly' as a backing track to a feature on the artist. Mark Kermode made a comment about an '80s band writing a song about how over-rated his scribblings are. The show aired on 29 July with a repeat on 31st.

NEW BAND MEMBER ANNOUNCED

I, Ludicrous are proud to announce the recruitment of a new band member. In a break with tradition that sees I, Ludicrous starting to look dangerously like a 'real band' Brett Martini joins on bass. Will & John still haven't got a drummer yet, but the three-piece could be debuting at the B&G towards the end of June. We'll keep you posted.

PHOTOS FROM THE BULL & GATE

Following their mid-week cup exit at the hands of The Fall, Friday night (14 March) saw I, Ludicrous return to league action with a home fixture against Fractured at The Bull & Gate. The evening ended in an honourable draw in front of an appreciative full house.

Following four successful dates supporting the Fall on their UK tour John and Will will be leaving the remaining scheduled support slots to other acts and are now turning their attention to other projects. 'Out of the cup and concentrating on the league', as it were.

I, Ludicrous will still be playing with Fractured on 14 March at the Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, London. Should be a good evening.

I, LUDICROUS ON 6 MUSIC

Chris Hawkins, the top BBC radio presenter and all-round good egg, has taken a shine to the songs to the songs on the forthcoming I, Ludicrous EP. Chris played 'Chav it up with Jeremy Kyle' recently on his 6 Music show.

Those wanting a preview of 'Highland League' can hear it by tuning to Chris's show next week when he will be playing it on Tuesday night between 1am and 1.30 (as in the early hours of Wednesday) and will play it again between 6.30 and 7am on Wednesday morning.

As both members of the band struggled against impending redundancy from their respective jobs they have been hard at it writing new material which was showcased at their gig at the Montague Arms, New Cross. Their long-suffering, patient fans cheered on hearing their latest masterpiece 'Ruby Wax is Fantastic' along with 'Argument in the Launderette' and 'Chavving it Up with Jeremy Kyle'. A new single/EP is being planned for later in the year.

I, LUDICROUS NEW LABEL-MATES OF THE FALL


Some great I, Ludicrous news from Will, "We can now announce to the world we've signed to Sanctuary (The Fall's record label) and that a retrospective will be launched in April entitled 'I, Ludicrous - 20 years in show business'." This will be a 2 CD package - track listing to follow.

I, Ludicrous have also been to the recording studio to record Highland League, Ruby Wax and A Clerking 'Til I die.
